An open database of defects closed IN
/ > We all use the program and from time to time find mistakes in them.
In the case of free software you can correct the problem in the source code (if you have the skills) or hire a developer who will do it for you. But, unfortunately, the use of free software is not always possible. It is very difficult to resist pressure from others to use IN closed (such as with Skype, closed, uncomfortable, not available under all platforms, but still use it due to the lack of good and popular alternatives). In case of problems, closed you can only hope that the manufacturer will fix your problem in the next update.
I propose a partial solution to the problem.
When a problem is detected in the user can behave differently and in my opinion each behavior depends on the advancement of the user, the severity of the problem and Pro-activeness of the person:
• close your eyes to the problem and move on without noticing her.
• every time resent bumping into the problem (no matter how: verbally or on social networks)
• report this error to the manufacturer (it's aerobatics)
But even if the user has notified the manufacturer directly, there is no guarantee that the problem will be fixed in the next update. And since it's closed software, and help the user nobody but the manufacturer cannot and he is alone with his suffering.
As a solution I decided to make a public bug tracker for such issues.
that'd probably solve a few problems:
• public availability of known bugs in the closed
• ability to create statistics on the number of defects in the closed
• possible additional tool to influence the manufacturer (see them all open bugs, reputation and all that)
• in the end it's more constructive than emotional cries on forums and social networks
• criteria for purchase or app usage (maybe I won't buy the app if he has a lot of open problems)
• optional feedback to manufacturer (?)
By the way the creation of this project was preceded by my correspondence with Richard Stallman, which I wanted to discuss with him the idea.
After my arguments in favor of creating this project he replied: "It is an interesting idea — worth a try."
Actually after that I did Community bug reports.
If you have bugs that are ignored by the manufacturers, you can add.
